Default Our Best Friend and True Believer

Ken Jones, recently deceased, and beloved by all his friends and all of us here at Robin Guitars and Rio Grande Pickups, is now in a better place.

The open "evening party" for all his friends, admirers, and well wishers, will be held at "Under the Volcano"....2349 Bissonnet, Houston.....77005

It will be an open musical event so that all can pay tribute to Ken via his great loves, music and the electric guitar.

Please, let's all come out and pay our respects....

Wish I could be there, but I will be there in spirit for sure.

Default Remembering Ken

I realize it has been a little over a year since Ken's passing and I wanted to just give a little shout out in his honor.

I met Ken in the mid 90's while he was shooting a video for our band "Under the Sun." I brought out my Robin RH-1 for the shoot, foolishly thinking Ken would be impressed. The next day we resumed the shoot at his house and out came his Robins. That pretty much stopped me dead in my tracks. He even managed to get one of his Original Recipe Robins in some of the shots. Ken later played in that same band.

I reconnected with Ken in 2015, ironically at the after wake party for that same bands drummer Mando Perez. We filled in the fifteen year gap talking about our families, careers and yes....Robin guitars. We stayed in touch with each other afterwards. In fact, I was sharing pics and the serial number from a Savoy that I had just purchased. Ken filled me in on all the details, he was a warehouse of information on Robins. That was in March of 2016. I found out about his passing not long after on this thread.

As much as I miss him, it's nice to find and read his posts on this forum.

P.S. It would be great if that book still happened and it was dedicated to Ken.

Default Such a shame

I'm new here and admittedly never met the gentleman but I have enjoyed reading his posts. I was looking forward to picking his brain just getting into Robins and all. Seemed like he was among the top Robin collectors and historians out there.
