I've been lurking for a while, and I thought I'd finally post a picture of what is currently my favorite guitar.

I bought it off ebay back in 2000 when I decided that I just had to have a nice guitar with single coils. I was familiar with the term "Robin" from the guitar shop where I took guitar lessons as a teenager. There was a badass Machete hanging very high on the wall in the "you gotta sign a waiver to play this axe" position.
Fast forward to year 2000. I saw this brand new Medley on EBay for $1000, serial #991024, and I couldn't resist. The funny part is that I neglected her for a long time while she sat in the cold dark case. At one point, I even put her BACK on Ebay and couldn't sell her even for $500, and she was in MINT CONDITION! The ignorance of the general public was the blessing in disguise.
The problem was that I hadn't given her enough time to fully appreciate her tone and and flexibility. For some reason that I don't quite understand, even though our hearing supposedly deteriorates as we get older, my sensitivity to tone was enhanced. From a twangy tone ala Stevie Ray Vaughan to a crunchy, airy (?) tone with tons of bite in the bridge, I never get tired of the variety of sounds. I haven't even mentioned the neck yet. I have smaller hands and would prefer a slightly narrower fretboard, but I've somehow adjusted just to be able to play a neck this perfect. It makes the neck on one of my Gibsons look like it was made from pressed wood.
With all that said, I'm eagerly awaiting another Medley from Greg - this time with a mahogany body with a flamey charcoal maple top, ebony fingerboard, and Genuine Texas/BBQ humbuckers for a "Les Pauly" sound in a guitar that I love.
I would be interested to know the history of the guitar. I don't remember the seller of the guitar (it was a music shop) or how it was acquired. Since most Robins are custom ordered, I wonder if this was ordered by an individual or by the shop for resale. The pic on the right is an original pic from the Ebay ad.
