Ah, yes the color....
Well, the body & neck are FAKIMBA.
The color, hmmm..., the color?
Oh yeah, the top is maple. Wonder what color it'll be? Dave & I discussed it on Wednesday, and it's gonna be killer!

There's no reason for secrets amongst Robin Lovers! But that's your prerogative to just keep it from us. "It's gonna be killer" no matter what color it is. We all know that.
Now, what color is it going to be? We're growing impatient.
Seriously though, it's gorgeous Steve. But I'm thinking you knew that already.

Oh I get it, it's Steve Clay's. But why does BCRGreg have pix of it? Does BCRGreg pass by Robin central a lot? Is he a secret agent man? Oh, man, the anticipation of it all is killing me.

I have pics because I am the guy that ordered the guitar.

Dave - the color's not a secret, it's just that I'm not really sure how to describe it, since I'm not exactly certain how it will turn out. The challenge is really the fakimba. Since it's got such nice grain, we don't want to hide it behind an opaque finish. But, a clear or antique finish runs the risk of going too far toward yellow. What we really want is a "darker" antique on the fakimba - sort of like a golden-brown that lets the grain pop through. For the top, we're going for something in the tigers-eye family with a slight burst to "connect" the color on the top with the fakimba sides. Ultimately, I told Dave that I simply trust his judgement to get the color right. You ever see an ugly Avalon? Me either - Dave knows what we're going for, and I'm totally confident he'll nail it !!!
Since Robin is now using a fast-cure UV finishing process, I'd be very surprised if I didn't have this guitar in my hot litte hands by Christmas! Woo-hoooo!!!
