Hey Dan:
A good belt-sander could have gotten those grain imperfections out, but I guess he just wanted it that way!
As for "top of the pile";.............for now. Just when we think Dave's "topped out", he goes and does something even more amazing. That's the fun of it. As for Christmas; Santa does like Steve Clay best. There's always next year.
The Artisan still lurks.

Greg - we'll need to warn folks when we bring both those babies on stage at the same time! The good news is they'll be so distracted by all the quilty-goodness, they won't notice so much when we derail a song a little! <grin>
AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! I can't wait!!!!! Hurry up UPS!!!!

Keep it. Sell me yours. Two people happy. One person sad. A net improvement over the current situation.
Just kiddin' Steve. Somethin' tells me Greg thinks Dave W's pics didn't do the guitar justice. That's real good news for the proud new papa.

I've seen it.
I've held it.
I've played it.
It's incredible. Under 7 pounds and plays like a dream!
I can't pick it up until Thursday because my work has me going from 7 am to past 8 pm today and tomorrow.
But Thursday night it shall be mine, oh yes, it shall be mine!!!!! Aaaahhhaaaahahahhhahahahaha!!!!!!!
Steve Clay
12-18-2007, 08:54 PM
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention:
It's chambered - really resonant!
Nice big neck carve with a slight vee.
Impeccable fretwork - somebody spent some TIME on this one.
Both pickups are coil-tapped (volume pots are push-pull to run humbucker or single coil).
And the pickup rings... are wood! (not plastic).
Just incredible - Dave really went over the top on this one - it was worth the wait!

It's ugly. Wood pickup surrounds suck. Chambered, light and resonant guitars suck. Incredible fret work sucks.
Aw, who am I kiddin'. I already saved the pics to my computer and added them to my screen saver. Dave Wintz has totally outdone himself with this guitar.
This is the type of instrument that resides in a man's "Last Will &Testament". F'ing fabulous.
Bravo, Mr. Wintz!

Damn nice Avalon, Stevie Clay, congrats on your new guitar, hope it sounds as good as it looks. Kashola, and I have some stuff coming as well.......... KILLER stuff. Hey, it's CHRISTMAS TIME ! - NOT - , and I REPEAT, NOT " Happy Holidays " Whoever came up with that we're now " supposed " to say : " Happy Holidays ? No kidding. Anybody that might be "offended" with the term "Merry Christmas" or a depiction of the birth of Christ in the manger- in their town square with Mary & Joseph, and the Shepherds, " the 3 Wise Men showed up later " - can go cry in their warm milk. MOVE, and, or, MOVE.
MERRY CHRISTMAS !

Try something else Greg. Since this forum seems to cater to a bunch of pricks - that just doesn't get it done.

Cushman, I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but considering the fact that you have free reign here, you might wish to consider which bunch of pricks you think it is I'm catering to.
Jimbo
12-19-2007, 11:21 PM
I'll re-phrase that comment. I meant to say that there is a special someone on this forum that is a prick. Not all you folks. Your own mileage may vary. Feel free to B-B-Q me. I'm not into this kind of hubris for the most part, but it is what it is. Just want to get my guitar, and play it. Bye the way, thanks very much to INFINTY GUITARS for everything, including the Christmas Card I recieved from those fine folks in Houston Texas - Thanks INFINITY GUITARS

Jimbo:
If that "someone" is Greg, I think you need to take a step back. Greg might not be the dealer of choice for you, but I kinda' like the guy very much. He's cocky. He's opinionated. And he has never pointed me in the wrong direction. I've bought guitars used from forum members instead of buying from him and he's never complained. He spends mucho time with me just to sell me a set of pickups, a pedal or nothing at all. I know you guys don't see eye to eye, but you've got to let it go. Randy is a great guy, and Greg was the one that told me that. There are a few dealers on this forum and they are Dave Wintz' chosen conduit for our Robin dreams. When Greg and Randy post, they deserve a little more room because they are making a living at selling us Robins and stuff. The fact that they co-exist is a good thing.
I love your wit and your opinions on this site, Jim. I always click, when I see you've posted.
Greg is just basking in the beauty of this guitar and the fact that he helped to make it happen. Hell, he might be a little jealous of Stevie's incredible guitar.
Nah........................and that's the beauty of it!
Merry Christmas to every person on this forum.

I'll recommend Greg to anyone any day. He has a wealth of information and his customer service is second to none. Everytime I'm in his store, he teaches me something about pickups, or bridges or amps or...whatever. He's one of the most knowledgeable guitar store owners anywhere, period, and he shares his knowledge freely with his customers. And, by the way, I'm not even a very big spender or very good at guitar!
I would however like to sell a kidney to get a guitar like Stevie's! Incredible!

I held it yesterday (the guitar that is).
I'd say I played it, but what I did could only be described as "caressing." Again...the guitar.
What a gorgeous work of art! And it has The Neck!

It arrives tomorrow. I'd been waiting for that phone call for a long, long time. Greg usually e-mails the secret message, "Call me". This time he called me too. I'm so happy to get the chance to own and play this guitar.
