Drag. He did live a LONG time and was able to play a regular gig until the end.

I think Greg was the last of our members here to see him play. I got to see him at a Dallas "World's Greatest Guitar Show" back in the late eighties. He hung around for two hours signing autographs and making himself "available".

His accomplishments were many. His inventions were the basis for recording today. He could really play. And nobody every had a bad word to say about him.

God missed him. That's for sure.

I saw Les in June of 2008.
Joan Jett sang the Theme to The Mary Tyler Moore Show with him.
Kinda surreal and cool. No guest at the 2nd show that night, but Paul Newman was there.
Les played an Avalon that night, saying "I hear these guys from Texas build a good guitar".

Ok, I lied a little.

JJ used an LP plugged into a Roland JC-120...the ULTIMATE Rock & Roll amp. (hrrrmph)

That damned kid in the blue shirt sulked all night. I wanted to tell his Father to give the seat to someone who WANTED TO BE THERE!

Yea, that kid needs a punch in the face. If there was ever a reason to invent a time machine, it's so I can go back in time and straighten him out.
I quote the inimitable Mr. T:
"...and ya better get that bad look off your face, before I knock it off!"

As for the Wizard of Waukesha, there are not enough words for an man like him. Where do you begin, really?!

My real reason for replying to this thread, however, is for the reason that it shows on the thread list as "R.i.p steve phillips."

Glad to see you're still with us, Steve.
