What I like about the wrap-around (aside from the way they feel) is that you can see more of the FLAME!!!!!!!!!

So, I've spent some time with this fine instrument (the photos I posted above were taken 20 or 30 seconds after I took it out of the shipping box) and I was not overstating it when I said that Dave had "upped his game again."
In the relatively short time that I have been buying and playing Robin guitars, (roughly 5 or 6 years), I have seen no less than 3 tangable jumps in build quality. From what was once an affordable, hand made American guitar with one or two areas worthy of improvement, Robin guitars are now some of the finest you can buy - at any price. The bonus here is that they're still not priced as high as they ought to be.
Try buying a similar instrument from MacInturf, Hamer, Nik Huber, or McNaught.
Nothing a home refinance couldn't cover.
And speaking of Huber's guitars (I am a big fan, by the way), I recently had a discussion with my friend, Rob (you HFCers and Gear Page folks know him as edgar_allan_poe), who asked me where I felt Robins stacked up with Huber's offerings. Rob had mentioned that he was looking to have Nik build him something, but with several custom features added on. I pointed out that Robin already offers something very similar "off the rack" to what he was going to have to jump through hoops to have Nik build for him.
"Why not save yourself a few thousand dollars and consider one of these...?" I suggested.
I told him that I felt that Nik would have the edge on build quality because of the hardware he uses and the fret dress.
That was based on the batch of Robins I came accross that had come out of the factory about two years ago.
After receiving this Avalon, I no longer feel that Dave's instruments take a back seat to anyone's. I've had a lot of guitars, most of them far too expensive to be defended by my level of talent, but I can honestly say after pouring over this guitar, there is nothing I would change and there is absolutely no room for improvement.
Thanks again, Dave!
