I had a chance back in 1991 to buy a new PRS with a sweet switch but instead I bought a US Machete ... one of the originals...with the most beautiful flame maple neck I'd ever seen. I bought the Robin over the PRS because it was cutting edge & I was at GIT playing with all the hot innovative players of the day & boy was that a HOT time for guitar ... so now I'm returing to my roots in a number of ways!!! I'm thrilled about this new Robin from Junior's Music ( I actually have it on Layaway) I'm freakin psyched ... I know there's no better Les Paul type guiatrs out there being built. There just isn't...& I've played EVERYTHING ... twice... by the way my other KILLER guitar is an ASAT Z-3 with a Bigsby... I think I'm set for life!! http://robinlovers.com/discus/messages/6/1690.jpg

You are set for life Chuck..what a peaceful grace that must be. Our Roots are the most important part of enjoying guitar..
This guitar says "Play anything on me, there is nothing I can't do".

Hi John,
Man are you ever right... Thanks to Ebay I've had a chance over the last several years to play just about every guitar I could get my hands on & I feel like I'm finally settled. It's a weight off your chest.
Looks like you've got some beauties there too. Oh wow... I just read your profile. Frank Marino is a huge influence for me. (I usually cite him & Johnny Winter, & several others) I'm also a big endorser in economy of motion. After studying for many years it really translates into all of your work ethics ... or am I just totally nutz?

Avalons are great, just got one to add to my stable a few weeks back. :-) Johnny Winter is the man Chuck! I still think that he is tragically underrated, but that is just my opinion. He is THE man that got me off the deep end into blues and I haven't come back since!

Hiya Johnny,
I'm in the process of haveng a Savoy built with the same wood's & finish as this one to be a companion for it. I'm ordering a Chet Wire handled Bigsby with it along with a black set of Muy Grande's & black round surrounds. Same woods & finish as my Avalon. I have to say that I've owned several high end PRS's & this one plays, sounds, & looks better. I had an artist, a brazillian... both CU-22's, & a Singlecut Trem... while the singlecut was the best playing & sounding of them all ... none of them are even in the same league as this Robin. The dragon 2's just don't sound great ... the #6's in the singlecut were good ... but they had no where near the character of these Rio's. I also gave Ron Thorn a visit in Burbank. His stuff is nice ... & he routinely uses Rio's but sheesh... again the Robin is just a better guitar. I've played & tried pretty much everything haveing grown up in a vintage guitar shop hanging out...again... This Avalon is the finest guitar I've ever laid hands, eyes, or ears on. PERIOD.
