My daughters picked it out. Less cool in person, but tell a 11 and 12 year old that you are not gonna wear it.......

Awwww..you're such a softy! I think I remember an episode of the Bill Cosby show where he was in the same dilemma.

I'd wear it, but then again I like loud clothing!

The original series of Avalon Sports were made in 1994. They had a flat-top swamp ash body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, tuneomatic/stop tailpiece, and a single humbucker. Only about 5-6 of these were made. It's the second guitar from the left in this photo.

The first guitar on the left is from that same year - it is the Avalon Special. Same construction as the Sport, but it has two humbuckers and a three way switch. Only a couple of dozen of these were made.

Swamp ash with two P-90's would be way cool!

Time to resurrect this thread.
My crazy Mahogany Sport. Looks and dances like Koa.

I used to look at this guitar hanging on the wall in the office at the Robin factory and think how many famous guiar players had played it.
Allen Hill used to load it and a bunch of other factory demos in the back of his car and put them in the hands of whatever big artist was visiting the local arenas, and concert venues.
At one point he had told me guys like Billy Gibbons, Bob Dylan, and a bunch of others that I can't remember right now had played it. The point of his visit wasn't necessarilly to sell them a Robin, but to put Robin on their radar. A bug in their ear if you will.
And even if you won't.

Anyway, years and years go by, and I see an Avalon Sport on ebay. I thought it might be the same guitar, but it also could just be another natural mahogany Avalon Sport. Either way, it made no difference - I wanted another wrapper with a P90 (I was sellling a '59 Les Paul Junior at the time), and the price was right.

When I saw this picture, though, I knew it was the same guitar.
There's no forgetting a chunk of the headstock missing...
